Vehicle Photography

Listing cars, motorcycles, boats or RVs for sale online opens up your market to include hundreds-maybe thousands-of potential buyers. Since the photo you post of a vehicle will be the buyer's “first impression,” it's important to make sure your photo is as clear and professional-looking as possible. Our highly trained photo enhancement artists can digitally:

  1. Color correct photos
  2. Reduce or remove glare or “sun flare” on shiny or metallic surfaces
  3. Minimize dust, dents or scratches to reveal the vehicle's true potential
  4. Remove unwanted reflections in glass or shiny surfaces
  5. Intensify or enhance the vehicle color
  6. Remove bumper stickers, fuzzy dice or other distracting features
  7. Remove or minimize unwanted elements in the background

Anyone trying to sell a vehicle online wants two things: 1) to sell it, and 2) to get the highest possible price.

When you advertise with clear, professional-looking photos of a vehicle, you will get more interest, and your ability to command top dollar will be greatly improved. Poor photos don't accurately represent what a vehicle looks like in person. Photofix can help you showcase your vehicles and connect with buyers.

Photo Tips for your Auto

Clean the machine. This should go without saying, but anyone who wants maximum interest and price should photograph cars, bikes or RVs when they're looking their best. Wash, wax and detail the vehicle before taking any photos. Dirt and grime-or just aging and fading of plastic and rubber-can devalue the vehicle instantly from a buyer's perspective.

How Photofix can help: If you simply didn't have the time to spruce up the car, boat or bike, fear not. Photofix can minimize dirt and give your car a digital car wash, adding shine, detailing and a fresher look.

Create a personality portrait. The angle of the photograph can capture the personality of any car. A sports car could be photographed with the horizon line just above the roof of the car. This will make the vehicle appear closer to the ground, and give the impression of a faster car. An SUV like a Hummer or a big utility truck, however, should be photographed with the horizon line at the middle or lower part of the vehicle, making the vehicle look sturdier, larger and more formidable.

How Photofix can help: Depending on the photo, we may be able to enlarge, reduce or crop the photo to create some of these personality effects that show the car off to its best advantage and target the ideal audience of buyers.

Lights fantastic. Choosing the right kind of lighting is essential to getting a great photo. Always shoot a car outdoors during daylight hours. If you can, make sure it's a sunny, cloudless day, and find an open space to ensure no shadows (such as tree branches or buildings) are cast on the vehicle. Choose late morning or late afternoon when the sun is bright but not directly overhead. If it's a classic car with a lot of chrome, try to figure out how to get the maximum shine without creating too much glare or harsh shadows.

How Photofix can help: If the lighting in your photo could have been better, bring it to us and we can brighten the photo, remove or reduce shadows, intensify color and remove glare or sun flare off of metallic or shiny surfaces.

Stage the coach. In other words, choose backgrounds that suit your vehicle type, and tell a story that will get the potential buyer excited to see your car. Campers and motorcoaches could be shot “on location,” with the mountains or a resort as the backdrop. SUVs could be placed near rocky terrain or off road. Compact or hybrid cars could have a cityscape or hip, urban environment. Utility trucks could have construction sites as background, showing their aptness for the jobsite. Touring motorcycles could be shot on a winding, open country road.

How Photofix can help: If you can't get your RV to a campground or your truck to the lumberyard, Photofix can take your vehicle and drop it into a new background. We can also remove an unwanted background element from an otherwise perfect picture.

Make a good resolution. Your digital camera should be set to take the highest quality image it can. If you need to crop, resize or reduce the resolution for upload to an Internet site, you can always do that after the photo is taken. If the resolution is too low on the original image, the photo may be of poor quality or could turn out pixilated.

How Photofix can help: If you're not sure how, simply take the high resolution photo and send it to Photofix for Internet site optimization.

Thank you for using Photofix. If you run a business that depends on good vehicle photography, you can count on Photofix to get it done right.
